I now have a healthy BMI, the little traffic light colours on my geeky weight loss spread sheet have gone green. That means I have done it and met my target. The target I set all those weeks ago to hit 16st 4lbs, and get a BMI of 25 and a loss of 7st 4lbs. All done :-D
My first week in RTM was very good and resulted in a weight loss of 5lbs so I’ve actually overshot my target. Introducing the food back in was a little daunting at first and I’m still finding myself quite excited preparing each meal. Not quite like a kid at Christmas but not far off.
Total loss to date is 7st 8 lbs.
Week 1 was fairly simple. 1 pack a day is replaced with a meal of just protein for the first 2 days and then adding salad leaves from day 3. Meals so far have consisted of a portion of protein, mostly chicken but also tuna, a lot of salad and herbs and spices such as garlic, chilli etc. My taste buds have really appreciated the food and I’m tasting every flavour like it’s new and actually enjoying the salad rather than just getting through it to get and the “good stuff”
I’ve also been poaching the chicken rather than grilling or baking it and it’s been delicious. Gently simmering chicken breast with a bit of boullion, garlic and chilli is fantasic!
Week 2 introduces some raw veg, skimmed milk (hurrah for white tea and coffee again!), sugar free jelly, fromage frais, fat free salad dressings, fat free dips and a few other things. I’m going to enjoy that too.
Things will get tougher in week 3 as a further pack is dropped and I have to have 2 meals. That’s when I will probably come out of Ketosis and start feeling physical hunger again.
Probably the best news of all is that I’ve now raised over £350 for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice too and will shortly be given a cheque for the same amount to double the donations to over £700.
