Day 8 - Back in Blighty

Total distance so far is 1822 miles and we're spending our last night in Knutsford. Today has seen us cover 260 miles and travel from Ayr, through the Lake District and down to Knutsford.

We picked a pretty spectacular road from Ayr, through Castle Douglas and onto Gretna Green where we stopped for lunch and watched the conveyor belt of weddings passing very through. It all looked a bit cheesy to me.

From Gretna, we worked our way down through to Windermere and past the lake. The Lake District is extremely pretty but the effect was dulled somewhat by our experiences in Scotland. We also found the roads very crowded but they were very twisty and the scenery is like nothing we've got in the south.
