Day 2 - A Little Damp But The Scenery Was Worth It

We watched the MotoGP and left the hotel at about 9am. We'd gone about 30 miles before we hit the rain and were stuck in it for a couple of hours. Absolutely torrential but we stayed mostly dry and my new bike trousers held up well.

Our route took us along the A68 through Northumberland and I could see why this is such a popular biking road. It seemed to have everything, great bends and great scenery. However the rain meant we didn't see it at it's best but still thoroughly enjoyed it. A short section with a series of 3 hairpins was particularly tricky in the wet.

We skipped the overpriced hotel breakfast and stopped at a great little café on the A68 and there's nothing like a nice steaming mug of tea and a full English breakfast to pick the spirits up.

The rain stopped at about 1pm and help off until we were coming into Perth where it started to drizzle a bit. Mileage so far: 477 miles.

We're probably more tired today than yesterday but that's because riding the smaller roads, especially in the rain just takes it out of you as you have to concentrate so hard.

Tomorrow sees us going through the Cairngorms and Aviemore so I'm looking forward to that.

  1. Sounds like you are having fun.... lovely and sunny down here on the IoW!
