Where the heck did that go!?

Back to work already tomorrow, time flies when you get older :-)

I've been getting over this cold for nearly 2 weeks now and it's still bugging me that I wake up every morning coughing and spluttering like I smoke 20 a day. I feel fine apart from that. Where does all that snot come from? ;-)

I'm quite conscious at the moment that I'm trying hard to keep positive and not allow myself to slip into the new year blues that I find so hard. I managed it last year and will do it again this year. I'm still on anti-depressants but only 30mg every other day which the doctor is happy with as it's a very low dose. I don't know if I still need them but I'm happy taking them.

I don't have any grand plans for 2008, apart from hopefully getting an extension to the house built. I've not made any new year resolutions but instead want to just try and make little improvements to my and my families life.

Eat a little less, not so many second helpings, walk a little more, exercise a little more, more family time. Small changes are what's achievable and smaller changes are easier to maintain.

The good news is that there is scientific proof now (Bike Magazine, Jan 2008) that riding a motorbike has health benefits. A leisurely ride uses the same energy as a gentle walk and a brisk ride the same as a brisk walk. So a "spirited" 3 hour ride would burn off a few pints of beer, a big mac and fries AND 2 chicken tikka massala's :-D Now THAT'S good news.

Riding a bike gets you out into the day light and releases the bodies natural "happy pills" so it's a form of anti depressant too! What more could you ask for.

I'm also going to make an effort to post a little more in this blog. The blog posts have gone down every year since I started it in 2004 and I really like reading back through it so will make a conscious effort to record more of what goes on. One of the things I'm going to do is to add some reviews of things I've bought or used and give honest comments on what I thought of them.

I know I research things a lot before buying now and I think reviews could give something to others looking for similar information.
